Building the Seventh Sin, Part II
Assemblage of the pages lent themselves very well to a codex form of book. I my madness, I decided that I would like to have a book that opened as a codex as well as an accordion. This meant that I needed a backbone to the book that the printed pages could be attached to, as well as being able to fold out in an accordion fashion.
The backbone ended up being 12 feet long when unfolded!! This must be the artist pain that comes with an expanding project that you think is the best.
I had always thought in the back of my mind that if the backbones became real I would have the decorate them. This, in the end, turned out to be a pleasure. Different fonts for different parts of the backbone. Since the front pages had prints, the back side had to have prints.
These were wood cuts, lino cuts, and stamps. Fold them up and you got a 7 x 9 artist book.
